We are going backwards and forwards saying we would love a baby, but have been SCARED to death with all the risks we would be taking, and have we considered the effect on the children we already have......making me feel so irresponsible for even considering it. Coupled with ....."there is a very small margin you will even get a healthy baby ".... It's hard work I am older I will be tired, life is easier, you will have another 15 plus years of child rearing again... It's all DOOM DOOM
Help please as feel so down with it.....battered by the health professionals

I read an article in DP's copy of New Scientist a couple of weeks ago which said that it had been found that a baby's gut is colonised by bacteria whilst it is in the womb, in other words the mother causes it to have the microbial balance in the gut that it is born with. The same article also quoted this research http://pharmig.blogspot.co.uk/2012/0...ence-mood.html which suggests that our mood and behaviour could be influenced by our gut bacteria. The article did not discuss IVF and donor eggs but when I read the article I couldn't help thinking that if the behavioural influence of gut bacteria is true in humans then it would surely mean that women who have babies using donor eggs actually influence the mood and behaviour that their children will have when they are born, by virtue of sharing their own microbes with them in the womb, and so effectively a donor egg baby could (perhaps) 'inherit' the personality of the woman who gives birth to it by virtue of inheriting her gut bacteria, even though the baby does not have the woman's DNA.

Hi Ladies,

We have two kittens arriving next Saturday to add to our existing family of cats. So far I have two girls called Diana & Denise, although Denise is more commonly referred to as Fat cat  I have a boy called Doris, yes a boy!! So we needs names for the new additions, staying away from the names beginning with D if we can.

There were four in the litter, a little girl named Indie and three boys called Basil, Sage & Dill. We are giving a home to the latter two as the formers already have homes. Here they are.

This is Dill

And Sage on his side.

I'd quite like Bailey as a replacement name for Sage due to his creamy colouring, but a name for Dill is proving far more difficult. Ruth will have to approve the name as Dill will be 'her' cat. I wanted Sage only, but she used emotional blackmail on me so I have relented on the basis that I now have a blackmail technique of my own for a clean bedroom and help around the house. Or he (Dill) goes up for adoption (not that I could do that but I'm not telling Ruth that!!!)

Ideas please good ladies of M35+, maybe I should change my name to singlemum2kidsand5cats

Sun shining (temporarily anyway!) here, after an incredibly wet and windy weekend! We've been away this weekend, staying with friends in Coventry, our planned BBQ for Saturday evening ended up as an indoor grill, you know how it goes !!

Work as usual today, and homework for Megan after school as she didn't get any of it done over the weekend, so now she has to do it all today and tomorrow ready for handing in on Wednesday.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hello Ladies,
As I started my own IVF journey this week, it was with great relief that I discovered this forum. I read thread after thread late into the night discovering some incredible stories making me both laugh and cry, and really appreciated that some of you had shared such intimate emotions. These really made me feel less alone an also to understand the very daunting somewhat unknown road ahead.
I realise that there has been little activity of late here, but hope that if you are reading this you may be able to help me understand this process a little more, an if it is normal to want o sleep standing up - or is that because i haven't slowed down much, and should I expect to want to do very little from here on in?
I also really need help decoding the abbreviations that pepper the posts DH? and BHP?or was that BFP?
I really hope that if you are reading this, you will feel that you can share your experience, or if you are also having treatment, maybe we can share the journey here together....
I look forward to hearing from you,
Rachel
