Hi all

Thought it would be good to document the rest of my pregnancy, other ladies might find it useful and I am sure I will look back and smile at this once my baby is here!

So, nearly 3 weeks since my shock discovery and I am off to see the Consultant at Winchester Hospital today. My community midwife had already said that my care would have to be consultant led due to my age so I suspected this would be the first of many appointments.

However, I saw a lovely lady Consultant and her registrar and we had a nice chat without her making me feel I was being steamrollered into anything I didn't want. I have agreed to have a hospital delivery after a home birth and a nearly home birth, particularly as with this being baby number 5 I am more likely to have a heavy bleed after the birth (can't spell the hemma word!!)

Baby is doing fine, heartbeat heard and my old bones are coping well - urine all OK and BP fine.

The consultant did say I should come back in a few weeks to see her again, but when I suggested seeing my community midwife and then coming back to the hospital if there was a problem she agreed that would be fine. So with luck the next time I am at the hospital will be for the birth!

I have already been warned that I won't be allowed past 40 weeks and they would like to induce - well I kindof see where they are coming from but I am not a fan of inductions. My last 2 babies came 2 days after my due date so I will probably give myself about days after EDD before agreeing to induction.

I thought I would have to have the dreaded GTT test but I don't, my only risk factor was my age, can't tell you how pleased I am to avoid that one!!

So its all good - midwife led care now and no more appointments for 3 weeks until I am 28 weeks.

This pregnancy is going to fly by - oh and one more thing, was pleased to hear a midwife at the hospital only found out recently that she was 24 weeks pregnant, you would think if anyone would know they were pregnant it would be a midwife!!!

I'm preggars :smiley: (not bad for 44 huh! although conceived around a week before my birthday)

Actually I have just reached the second trimester and I'm sorry but I haven't been able to tell anyone until now in case I 'burst my bubble' so please forgive me!

I found out the day before Mother's Day and since I lost my mam a year ago it was going to be a very very sad day, but getting a BFP give me hope (mingled in with lots of sadness over not being able to tell mam first!).

Still, here I am, now 14 weeks + and I had the dating scan a couple of days ago but this was too late for nuchal translucency test (baby measured 88mm and 84mm is the cut off point). I have therefore had bloods taken for the quad test and am waiting for the results and hoping all is okay with that!!!

Generally feeling good though. Baby looked lovely and was wriggling around like a little wriggly thing :smiley:

Belated happy brithdays to all those I have missed.

I am so busy these days - even my days off are hectic.

I went to the circus last night - it was fab - slightly old fashioned but great, proper canvas big top. Took DS9 and a friend and they loved it.

I have an interesting day next week: a funeral and a wedding on the same day. Just need someone to give birth and will have the complete hatched, matched, despatched! Will go to the funeral during the day and the wedding in the evening.

Hi Ladies

My baby has gone off to Brownie camp for the weekend - doesn't come back until Sunday night. The house is so quiet. It feels really strange her not being here. She was mixed about going, excited, but also not wanting to leave as well. I hope it all works out and is Ok. It looks like a very exciting itinerary they have planned though so hopefully she'll enjoy it.

Meanwhile, DH and I are planning a relaxed evening and tomorrow we're going to see the new Star Trek film and going out to dinner, then must get some jobs done in the garden on Sunday preceded by a long lie-in of course - although part of me will be on tenterhooks because I'll be wondering what's going on at camp.

Hope everyone is well. I haven't looked in the SG yet so must do so. Alexandra - how did your protest march go?

For the first time I have to have a GTT test, lucky me! Its been recommended because of my age and baby no 2 was 10lbs nearly 14 years ago!

I would be interested to hear other people's experiences as to be honest I am not looking forward to it!

Morning Ladies!

Monday comes round far too quickly in my opinion! Another week of work begins!

Mind you, it is a Bank Holiday weekend coming up, and that's all goodness! We are off camping on Friday after work and school, our first camping trip this year. We are booked into a campsite in Corfe Castle, in Dorset. Praying for dry weather, but warm and sunny would be just perfect!
