I keep trying cheap lipsticks to save money but it always turns out a false economy because nothing seems to stick to my ropey old dry, wrinkled lips these days!
So normally I wear Maybelline SuperStay 18-hour lipstick. It is one of those with the colour at one end and a spongy applicator, and transparent Vaseline-type stuff in a stick at the other end. You have to let the colour dry before you add the see-through cover. It is great! Even for someone like me who is constantly nibbling and drinking tea, it stays on REALLY well. The downside is that the RRP is £7.82! That's why I kept trying cheaper lipsticks. Sometimes Boots and/or Superdrug lops a couple of pounds off the price as a promo, or sometimes I get a gift voucher for my birthday and I'll buy a couple. I get a mauve one, colour 310. http://www.maybelline.co.uk/PRODUCTS...hour_wear.aspx Just thought I'd share! I was going to get a new one from Superdrug last week when I noticed something else in the Maybelline range, half price at £3.99. It's the same idea as the Superstay lipstick but the transparent bit is a thick liquid and comes with a brush. This one only claims to last 12 hours, but it is pretty good. I got colour 330 which matches my natural lip colour very well but enhances it, if you see what I mean. It's another mauve shade. http://www.maybelline.co.uk/PRODUCTS...owerGloss.aspx

Have you tried places like this for cheaper makeup? Sometimes the colours are a bit limited, but they all normally do quite a lot of Maybelline stuff. Look on Ebay as well. I look in the shops for the colours I like, then see if I can get it cheaper from Ebay or an online discount makeup store. I know you need to play P&P, but it often still works out cheaper.

Thanks, Julie: Had never thought of buying lipstick online. Have you ever had any problems with people selling stuff that has gone off/gone gloopy/gone separated like make-up does eventually? It's just that I imagine such websites/sellers must be getting end-of-range items that are quite old, otherwise I don't see how they could sell them so cheaply.
That Direct Cosmetics site has one of the shades I like and their P&P rates vary from £1.95 to only £3.95 maximum! So that one is certainly a possibility, am also looking for possibles on eBay. Thanks!
