Hello Ladies,

Just wanted to have a little 'moan' regarding af!

I was 53 in May & despite her visits becoming l-o-n-g-e-r each month (&

sometimes earlier) she is still a very regular visitor most months.

I am happy in one way to still be perimenopausal, but it really is tiring!

The average age for menopause (cessation of periods for 12 months) in the

UK is 52.

Looks like I am 'bucking the trend'.............

How is everyone else doing?

My hot flushes are back - you may recall the ones I was having before I had James. My Mum went through the menopause at 38 - 40 so I was expecting an early one. My periods have not stopped though, although my cycles have moved from a VERY regular 30 days to about 40.

No idea if I am menopausal or not really.

My boss was suggesting my hot flashes could be thyroid related, but I am not losing weight I am still as fat as a house following my latest pregnancy!

I get mood swings but I have always had those! LOL!!

Thank you for your reply!

You are almost certainly perimenopausal, as for hot flushes due to thyroid,

as you know I am hyperthyroid and it's really a 'different' sort of heat when

you have thyroid issues.

Mood swings..........no wonder ds is moving out!

I'm also in the peri club no AF for nearly 10 weeks now! But no other symptoms what so ever. Feeling fit and well otherwise, never had mood swings with AF. No longer any bloating.
Aren't our bodies strange, may go to the GP one day but can't be bothered at the minute.

Hello Becs,

Glad that you are feeling well in yourself, bit unusual for them just to stop

altogether (especially at your age); although I am sure STRESS plays a BIG

part in periods ceasing for a while.

My periods are still regular but getting lighter (thank goodness). I was thinking last year of having a mirena fitted as life was getting so difficult but now its fine.

Apparently my levels were quite high last time they were tested but the Dr said it is quite usual to have a 'surge' before the menopause starts.
