Default Top tips for 2008

Just wonderened if anyone had any beauty secrets they wanted to share for 2008.

One thing I did this year that made a big difference to my appearance when going out was to invest in some false eyelashes - talk about instant glamour !

So come on girls: share your secrets !

The only secret I have is to keep my hair well cut and well highlighted. I've had some serious hair disasters in my time so I only go to a darn good (ok bloody expensive) hairdressers. Luckily dh is 7 years younger than me and no fan of the "grey highlights" look so is perfectly happy for me to spend a fortune.

I'm also a big fan of Prescriptives makup. It is on the pricey side but you never buy the wrong shade as its all laid out for you.

A friend of mine has been raving about eve lom cleanser for ages and as my skin is feeling a bit dry at the moment and I have some "fine lines" above my top lip (I'm very sensitive about them because I'm sure they mark me out as an ugly, smelly ex smoker) I've just today bought some of the cleanser and moisturiser in a cute little starter pack.

So far I'm very impressed with the cleanser - will report back when I've tried it for a few days.

the top tip i have and try to follow is

try and get dressed before noon on any day i don't have to take Alex to playgroup anything else is a bonus

says Ann who has been known to throw a pair of Jeans on over her PJ's and put on a coat and rush him round to the playgroup then come home, jeans and coat off and back to the PJ's

sorry not very constructive advice

Love Ann

Nik, I have use Eve Lom cleanser in the past and loved it but its a bit pricey for me at the moment, Boots do one that similar in their 'old codgers' range

I am using Presciptive foundation at the moment which is nice.

Id really like to give the Dermalogica range a try when I am a little more flush.

Ann, I have taken DS14 to school in pyjamas on more than one occasion - fortunately dont have to get ut the car tho

Well, the classic ones are
  • Keep out of the sun (which I don't, but I do use a block)
  • Drink less alcohol (is that possible?)
  • Drink more water (no probs, I drink mint tea by the gallon)

My indulgences are that I have my eyelashes tinted every month or so so I don't look like an albino rabbit first thing in the morning and I buy Neal's Yard Frankinsence moisturiser for my face and sometimes use Beauty Without Cruelty tinted moisturiser foundation. Oh and the Body Shop all-in-one face base is a great one for a quick fix.

My one promise this year is to have my hair cut properly. I usually have a go at it in the bathroom myself and am always amazed that it can look halfway decent if I let a proper hairdresser do it instead! I just wish it didn't cost so much compare to a gent's cut....isn't my hair made of the same stuff

Love,
Janice

I'm afraid I don't even use a block when I'm in the sun but I so very rarely get a chance to sit in it and I'm sure my skin's so pale it reflects the sun that I rarely get any colour

No, its generally not possible to drink less alcohol

I drink loads of water and herbal tea and I'm not sure that my skin is any better for it but I feel better and have more energy.

During the first 12-16 weeks of pregnancy I spent most of my time asleep which actually took years off me. So my top tip is to get loads of sleep (which is probably about as possible as drinking less alcohol!)

What brand do you recommend? Are they tricky to put on?

I actually find them quite easy but then again I wear contact lens's so used to fiddling around with my eyes. I am not sure of the make as I have torm the top of the packet so they fit in my make-up box but they are just from Boots. Just dab a bit of the glue supplied around the base and stick em on.

Once dry I then use some soft eyeliner (Clinique is great) and sort of dab it all around where they are stuck on so you cant see the join. I then use a mascara as normal to blend my eyelashes in with the false ones.

If you prefer a more natural look you can get little individual ones which you can just add but that looks a bit fiddley to me and I dont care if mine look false - I just want impact
