Default Question re thyroxine

Hi Ladies

I take 250mg a day, i rang up for a new prescription on Friday but the docs didn't answer the phone and i forgot to ring back, i ran out yesterday and when i ring tomorrow for my prescription they will say it will be ready on Wednesday. Does anyone know if i will be ok for 4 days without taking any (i don't have a Thyroid).

Thanks in anticipation

Luv jo

I'm not too sure about the possible effects of not taking your Thyroxine; hopefully Judy will see this and answer. Just wanted to say that tomorrow your usual pharmacist should be able to give you enough to keep you going until you get your prescription and will just take out the number you have had

Hi Jo,

I take 137mg of thyroxine, Synthroid brand. 4 days without it should not make a very big difference. Just take it as soon as you get it. You know it is best to take it on an empty stomach or 4 hours after your last meal if you will be getting it before breakfast. i have been without my meds for that long and really did not feel any different plus a nurse told me it would not make a big upset. I just make sure i have enough now. Good luck and don't worry too much.

love,

Hi Liz and Dandy

thanks for your replys. Panick over, when i went into the surgery this AM luckily it was a lady i know on reception, my prescription will be ready later today. My main panick was because of my history (thyroid cancer), i have to keep my Thyroxine levels high due to possible reacurance, although i don't think 4 days would have made much difference but i do feel a lot happier knowing i don't have to wait. I just need to remember to go go and pick my prescription up.

Thanks again

Luv Jo

As and add-on, my partner would be in BIG trouble if he forgot to take his

Just goes to show how different we all are!
