Thumbs up White noise & sleep

Naomi is nearly 7 months old and has never fallen asleep of her own accord, i.e. she drops off after a feed, or when rocked or pushed in her pushchair.

Last week, though, I put her in her cot with the aim of trying "controlled crying" -- she wasn't having any of it. But then DP started hoovering and she fell asleep! I thought I would have to nurse her asleep until she was a teenager

I decided it must be the "white noise" effect of the vacuum cleaner. So I bought a Baby Stop Crying kit from eBay for £3.65. It's the one that thebabycatalogue sells for £12.95 (Item Number BW2016). It's just a cassette player with three tapes of various appliances humming and whirring! The player is really tinny and cheap and is quite noisy itself, the tape I put in made a real racket. I thought, "no way this will work". But after a few minutes, Naomi was alseep...

Maybe it's a fluke but I remain hopeful! Of course, you can get CDs of white noise (and pink noise, whatever that is) from eBay anyway. Worth a try for others maybe?

I used a white noise tape for dd1 after finding the hoover sent her to sleep it was fantastic and worked every time.......the only downside was when we had to share a hotel room with her!
Hope it continues to work, Becxx

Anything to avoid actually hoovering LOL!!!!!!!!! (you could bring her round here and I'd lend you mine!?!?!?!?!?!)

Glad you find a trick that works! With Joe it was putting him in his cot that he likes rather than the rocky crib that he apparently didn't!

7 months - ooer. Joe just hit 8. Where on earth does time fly to?

hugs to you xxxxx

Now that is interesting!!!!!!!!

I have a similar problem and Rhiannon is 20 months! I have tried the controlled crying thing and she just made herself sick.

Guess what? I am gonna get this..

i was curious.......

Pink noise

Pink noise is similar to white noise, it also contains the wide range frequency signal in the spectrum. It is commonly found in nature environment. Unlike white noise, listening pink noise is more comfortable. The sound is quite similar to ocean. Some people play it in the office for relaxation and concentration.
