Question Men as Friends?

Hi girls
Do you think it is possible to be close friends with a guy, or does it not work because sexual attraction from one or both of you gets in the way?

id say yes

as I'm friends with a lot more men than women
OK i admit a few of them are gay, but I'm now back friends with someone i hadn't been in touch with in many many years,

we were friends at school and kept in touch when i was all over the world,
we did date when i was about 17 but it didn't work out, we were better off as friends and both knew it, when i got married my EXH wouldn't allow me to keep in contact with anyone i knew from my past male or female but since last year i have bumped into my old mate and now we get on great as friend,

also Alex's godfather Matt was a very good friend of mine and is now very friendly with Allan since we got together,
I'm also very good mates with my mates ex partner, he comes round at least twice a month for his Sunday dinner

so I'd say yes men and women can be friends,

mind you Allan was my best mates partner before we got together and we were friends

seriously though it doesn't mean that you end up having a relationship with every male your Friends with

seem to remember a poll similar to this before will have a hunt

ahhh yes here we go

be interesting to see what the answers are now as there are so many more new members

can men and women be just friends poll

love Ann

Can't remember what I put last time but I had a brilliant male friend when I was in my late teens/early 20s; we had a fantastic relationship and then he got drunk and told me he loved me and as I couldn't reciprocate that was the end of that! I still see him occasionally as our sons are the same age and it's all a bit poignant still

I must say I would not like my DH to have a close female friend so I guess I've got double standards!

Just read through the last thread we did on this subject and my answer is almost identical - glad to see how consistent I am on some things

I think you can be good friends, but there is usually one who fancies the other. That doesn't necessarily have to get in the way, though it can be a bit painful at times, to say nothing of frustrating! (Guess what sort of week I've had?!!).

Yeah it's possible. I have a really good friend called Jason that i met when i was 12 and he was 10

We're still the best of mates now after 26 years and there's never been a hint of funny business!!

I ve to say I'm not sure on this one

My best friend is in a very funny situation at the minute..........she has a friend (male ) who she met through his/her job (she's a school secretary.....he was doing jobs around the school..... Electrician). She became friendly with him and when he branched out on his own she had him do some jobs at her home. They had the odd cup of coffee and chat and he asked her over to his for a drink a few weeks ago. She went over and it was just that a few drinks and he showed her what he had done around his home . He invited her over again last night and they went out for a drink and then went back to his for a bite to eat and a few more drinks (not too many, I hasten to add).........she ended up staying, both in the same bed........but he behaved himself, ........until this morning (well you know what men are like in the morning) and they had a little kiss and cuddle and both withdrew and took it no further...............now............she's left not quite knowing what the situation is ........she does'nt know if she wants it to progress further and he has'nt said how he would like things to progress ...........so that has left it all a bit up in the air. So in her case, no, unfortunately the old hormones have kicked in to make a good friendship a little tricky.

Having started this, I strongly agree with Mel, just wandered what everyone else thought!

Yep. I have lots of male friends and having grown up with 4 big brothers I am very friendly with some of their friends too. Male company is good but I never step over the line. I love my DH and that's enough for me.

I have a few good male friends, don't fancy any of them, but they are all good friends to me
