Hrumph! We have a screamer

Oh wow and does that little man scream He does it when he is excited, happy, angry, to get someones attention, at the dogs, at the door, at his dinner, when hes hot............. you get the picture

I tell him no firmly every time he does it but just just screams louder Is he too young to understand yet do you think, wondering if just ignoring it would be a better plan and seeing if he just forgets to do it.

Anyone else had a screamer before? My other boys never did this, boy is this little man a handfull!

yep, poppy was/is a screamer
she has grown out of it a lot though!
sorry, no advice.. nothing stopped her
just my sympathy
she especially liked to do it if we were somewhere where it echoed, or somewhere 'big' like asda (i guess she just liked the sound )

yep i know how you feel actually ali is more of a very high pitched squeeler (goes right through you) than screamer but its ear damaging all the same

he started about the age of one and i admit he is getting better but can still let rip at times

earplugs

Yep, I got one of these models as well !!

At Tesco he is the loudest child, if I start shopping and DH goes off to park he can always find us cos of Mr Shouty. Its not unhappy screaming (tho we do get that as well sometimes) he just likes to shout and scream when he is happy and definately when he is pointing at something he likes the look of.

He doesn't really say much so the only words that get shouted out are Booos for Tomliboos, Baaaannn for fan and Bunn for phone the only one he gets right is Ball so he is a diva for the B words but doesn't manage the F ones which is probably just as well really.............mind you I said Bollocks the other day and whats the betting he'll get that one right !!

Glad to hear they do grow out of it eventually tho

My second son (now 15) used to do that. It wasn't a miserable, bad tempered type of scream. He was perfectly happy - just loud! He started screeching once when we were in York Minster...great accoustics! We had to leave as his scream was just about filling the place.

We used to try distracting him, but that only had limited success. He did grow out of it quite quickly though.

Thank goodness Emily hasn't reached this stage (or appears to be)..

One annoying thing I have noticed about Emily is that, whenever there is a knock at the door, she runs straight to it shouting "door, door" and lifts the curtain to have a look. I am an anti-social so-and-so and hate opening the door especially when I know there are cold-callers or Jehovah's Witnesses outside - preferring to peak around the curtain until they get the message and go. Unfortunately Emily lets them know that we are home and refuses to budge until I open the door.

Even hissing at her from behind the sofa doesn't work...

Hopefully it is only a stage he is going through and will grow out of it. Otherwise I feel sorry for any girlfriends he gets...

Yep I have one of those models too Or at least I had just to reassure you. Oliver used to shout very loudly when he was happy, sad, excited, for no reason whatsoever! It was very annoying and when we were out people used to stare at me thinking he was upset. I guess they were expecting me to do something but I just smiled politely and cursed Oliver under my breath

He has quietened down now and its not down to me, he just grew out of it when he found a new skill, now bottom shuffling like Emily did!
