Default December International Bookwormers Thread

Festive salutations dear wormers!! Now we start the frenzy that is December....I love it really, just feel a bit over busy!

Went up to London yesterday and visited Harrods, lovely and festive and then to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Clare and I went on the huge wheel, b****y high, even in the dark but nice to see all the lights from up in the sky. We "shared" our capsule with 2 very gay and loved up young men who held hands all the way round!!

So onward to Christmas reading, enjoy, enjoy!!

Don't forget to let us all know your favourite reads of 2008!

Love Wendy Wiz, Librarian xxx

Hello Wormers from me still in Australia (and still sulking about it too )

Wendy and Clare, your London adventures did have me feeling rather envious, the Winter Wonderland sounds very nice.

Following on from the last couple of posts in November, Maria while you are in front of the fire with your hot toddy I'll think of you while I am at the beach. Celebrated our first day of summer by taking a book to the beach yesterday and as usual for the first time of the year got sunburnt. At 45 you think I might have learn't by now

and Alexandra, the book you didn't like sounded like the film Notes on a Scandal. It's the only film with Judi Dench in it I have not enjoyed. There is a sequel to Salvation Creek out by Susan Duncan, its set about 3 years later I think. My brother usually is good for book shop vouchers at Christmas so I will probably buy it in the sales and will forward onto Wormerland when I have finished.

Wendy Wiz, your parcel has arrived thank you and as I duly noted the cute stickers I have put it aside until Friday to open. Arn't I good .

Can't name a favourite read yet, still a month to go, and I am now gorging on the books I had saved for our (sniff, sniff) Bangkok holiday. Good thing is, a good book is a good book no matter where you read it.

Happy Reading Lovely Wormers

Leanne xxx

p.s. I'm over my pity party now and I promise I won't mention our cancelled holiday again (just glad I'd forgotton how to do a ticker ! )

My dear Leanne

I'd rather have you safe and sound in Oz than caught up in the political unrest in Bangkok.

Reading at the beach sounds like my idea of heaven, I'd be saying my catchphrase, "blue sky, sun is shining!!".....bliss

Leane, Yes that was the one: Notes on a Scandal - definitely not recommended.

Just finished Salvation Creek: absolutely loved it. This came from Leanne, via Lil and Wendy so absolutely MUST be forwarded to another wormer, any takers ?? (Sorry Clare, this isnt one for you I think).

So, must go and select my next read - especially as Arsenal are on telly tonight

Hi All

I finished Jeffrey Archers new book last week (A prisoner of birth) and I really enjoyed it. My mum has it at the mo (taken it on her crusie - lucky thing), but if anyone wants it once she has read it.. I would hightly recommend!

Am now reading James Patterson 'The quickie' and am enjoying it. A very easy read, it's only taken me a few nights, very short chapters, but they make you keep going to the next one
I will finish it in the next couple of days...
If anyone would like it, please let me know

Love Lisa xx

Hello wormers

I have been a bit neglectful about posting books but should get back on track this week.........I have no idea where the time goes (or my time to be more precise!)

I am reading Karin Slaughter Fractured just now.......a good read.

Hope all is well with the wormers?

Lil

Hello Wormers,

Sorry I've been missing in action lately Life has just been so hectic. I've finally moved into my newly renovated house and it is the most beautiful house ever. I will post piccies when I find my camera. Once again we are living out of boxes and when I look back on the past 18 months I can't believe I came through it all. This is the 4th time I've moved and I don't think I can bear to ever do it again. What with that and dp's affair and leaving him and going it alone with Jenna and building a new house for Jenna and I to live in, it all seems a bit much. But I didi it and now all I have to do is live peacefully ever after.

But I've wandered off topic... I am still reading just haven't had time to post. I have a box full of books to share with all wormers and as soon as I locate the box and unpack it I will post what I have to share. I am currently reading "Keeping Faith" by Jodi Picoult.

I must get the house in order for Christmas as my dad is coming over for a few days and my mother is flying in from England (and yes they get along just fine) so I want everything decorated and in order in the next few weeks. EEk! Anyone willing to come over and lend a hand?

Love Gillian xo
