Default Possible miscarriage, advice please...

Hi,

I'm 36 yrs old and this is my first pg. I've been having brown spotting for a couple of weeks. Scan done 2 days ago, showed the baby as 6 wks 2 days, with heartbeat. That night, I had period pains, but I'd been having these anyway, and was told my bowels were pretty "swooshy", and that could be causing the pain, so I tried to ignore it.

36 hours later, (last night), I had a bowel movement (sorry for the TMI) and passed a large, almost black blood clot (with some bright red in it). My husband was shocked to see it. Through the rest of the evening, I had light pink steady bleeding - like a light period. This morning, during another bowel movement, I had more bright red streaking. I've also had some brown blood too. I haven't had any major pain.

I'm totally prepared for a m/c. I called the hospital last night, and I'm booked in for an emergency scan this afternoon.

Was just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience. I'm expecting dreadful cramps but as yet, not had any, which is confusing.

I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Hugs to you - I know what a worrying time early pregnancy is.

The fact that you have already had a scan which showed a heartbeat is encouraging, especially if the sonographer did not notice anything concerning about the heartbeat itself. I think once a normal fetal heartbeat has been demonstrated then the chances of the pregnancy continuing to term are about 97%.

I had bleeding in all 3 of my pregnancies and only 1 resulted in a miscarriage so it does not necessarily mean the worse. I also know others who have lost huge amounts of blood and still given birth to a healthy baby. However, I am afraid the only way to find out what is going on is to have that scan!

I have everything crossed for you.

Hi LL

Good luck from me too, I hope all is well with your little one.

I agree with Raccioc that seeing the heartbeat is a very good sign.

I had an early m/c 4 years ago now, was about 7 weeks + and to be honest the pain was just like a bad period pain, not what I was expecting at all.

Do come on here and let us know how you get on, fingers crossed for you.

Love
Liz

Thinking of you LL, I had bleeding in three of my pregnancies, but none in the one a m/c it was a missed m/c.
I agree seeing a h/b is very reassuring, hope you had good news at your scan yesterday. Thinking of you, pregnancy is such a stressful time.
