Sorry i'm too late with this, but thought i'd chip in anyway

Usual spend is 5-10 depending on if it's a close friend.
I try to 'stockpile' presents if I see anything on special offer, this is a good idea once they start school, as there's always parties! Especially things they won't grow out of (art stuff etc)
Girls are easier to buy small things for imo, as you can get necklaces, hair accessories, bags etc
I struggle with boys!

I'm 45 , and have twin daughters aged 23 , a son aged 19, and my beautiful Poppy aged 8.
Divorce came through March 2012.. Slug free and i'm loving it

Also nanny to a gorgeous girl called Violet who is 1
