What a lovely story, even if it was somewhat more interventionist than you would have liked. The main thing is that she is here safely and she is gorgeous too!
Sorry she is colicky though. It can be wretched having to deal with the crying. I know only too well! I can highly recommend a session or two of cranial osteopathy as a means of resolving this problem, though as it worked for both mine.
I had a terrible time with Sam (who was a twice-failed ventouse and ultimately a forceps birth) from approximately 4-9 weeks old as he screamed and screamed with terrible colic. Between about 4.30pm and 11pm every night all we could do was walk him round and round until it passed off or he dropped off to sleep.
Quite by accident when he was about 8 weeks old, I heard about cranial osteopathy the same week our local paper independently published a story about it. I was pretty desperate so gave it a go and have to say it was quite remarkable in its effect. Sam's head had been very compressed in the birth canal and he had a visible ridge on his forehead as a result. After the first session with the osteopath the ridge was gone and one more session ensured that the colic was pretty much a thing of the past too. I was utterly amazed but so delighted that Sam's tummy pain had resolved itself, almost miraculously it seemed.
Even before Amy was born I decided that I was taking her for the very same treatment as early as possible. I could not have known that she too would end up a forceps delivery, but that just jet-propelled me to the clinic. She had her first and only session at 8 days old and never suffered with colic.
If you can, I would urge you to take Katherine for a session. It is incredibly gentle and calming and neither of mine cried when it was done. It cost me about £25 and was worth every penny

Hope you soon have a calm and pain-free baby
